Epilepsy Care

Our Epilepsy Care Package provides specialised support and assistance to individuals with epilepsy in the comfort of their own homes. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterised by recurrent seizures, and we can help individuals manage their condition, maintain their safety, and improve their quality of life.

Here are some key aspects of homecare for epilepsy:

Dedicated Personal Care Assistant:

Our Specialist Personal Care Assistants have received training in Epilepsy Care including the management of epilepsy, seizures recognition and emergency first aid. This include ensuring that the individual safety during an episode and providing any necessary first aid.

Personalised Epilepsy Care Plan:

The homecare process typically begins with a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s epilepsy, including seizure type, frequency, triggers, and any associated medical conditions. A personalised Epilepsy Care Plan is then developed based on this assessment.

Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

Depending on the frequency and severity of the individual’s epilepsy, We can also assist with daily tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping.

Coordination of Care:

We will work in collaboration with other Health Professional such as neurologists and epileptologists to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to epilepsy care.

Seizure Monitoring:

Our Specialist Personal Care Assistants are trained to recognise different types of seizures and can offer monitoring and assistance during seizures. This includes ensuring the individual’s safety during an episode and providing any necessary first aid.

Safety Measures:

We will regularly assess the individual’s home environments for safety hazards, and measures will be taken to reduce the risk of injury during seizures. This may involve recommendations for home modifications or the use of safety devices.

 Seizure Diaries:

We will document all seizures as is often recommended to track the frequency, triggers, and characteristics of seizures. We can assist in maintaining accurate records.

Psychosocial Support:

Living with epilepsy can be emotionally challenging. Our Specialist Personal Care Assistant can offer emotional support and help to develop strategies for coping with the psychological aspects of the condition.

Emergency Response Planning:

Our Epilepsy Care Plan include an emergency response protocol in case of prolonged or severe seizures. This ensures that individuals receive timely medical attention when needed.

Family Involvement:

Family members are often an integral part of the homecare team, and we will ensure that they are educated about how to best support their loved one with epilepsy.
